Choosing the perfect location for senior photos is one of the biggest parts of creating a session that feels personal, unique, and fun. Luckily, Northeast Wisconsin has so many beautiful options...... from gardens & wildflowers to cliffs, waterfalls, wooded trails, and open nature spaces.
One of my favorite parts of planning senior sessions is helping each senior choose a location that matches their personality and style. Some seniors love natural scenery & sunsets, while others want an urban downtown vibe with architecture, textures, and city energy.
Here are a few of my favorite locations for senior sessions in the Green Bay and Appleton areas!
The Green Bay Botanical Garden is one of the most versatile & beautiful locations for senior photos in the area. It offers a huge variety of scenery all in one location, which makes it perfect for seniors wanting lots of different looks during their session.
Depending on the season, you’ll find:
I especially love this location for seniors who want a softer, elegant, or more polished feel to their photos. It photographs beautifully from spring through fall and always provides incredible variety.
There is a $7 entry fee for youth (3-17) and I can apply 1 adult to my photographers pass for free. Additional adults (18+) costs $17.
The Scheig Center and Gardens in Appleton is another hidden gem for senior photography. This location has a peaceful & natural feel while still offering beautifully landscaped areas and walking paths.
One of my favorite things about this location is how quiet & relaxed it feels. It’s perfect for seniors who may feel a little nervous in front of the camera because there are so many comfortable spots to explore without feeling crowded.
The gardens & greenery create timeless images, and the lighting here is especially beautiful in the evening.
If you love nature and want something adventurous & scenic, High Cliff State Park is an amazing choice for senior photos.
This location offers:
High Cliff gives sessions a more adventurous & outdoorsy vibe while still offering plenty of variety. It’s especially beautiful in late summer & fall when the colors start to change.
This is one of my favorite locations for seniors wanting something a little more bold, relaxed, and nature focused.
A vehicle admission sticker is required to enter the park, or you can purchase a daily pass at the ranger station when you enter for $8.
Fonferek’s Glen is truly one of the most unique photo locations in the Green Bay area. The waterfall, stone walls, wooded paths, and dramatic scenery make it feel completely different from anywhere else nearby.
This location is perfect for seniors who want:
The waterfall area creates such an incredible backdrop for photos and gives sessions a fun & adventurous feel.
Because this location can involve uneven terrain & walking, it’s best for seniors comfortable exploring a little during their session.....but the results are absolutely worth it!
1000 Islands Environmental Center is one of my favorite locations for seniors who love a calm, natural, woodsy look.
This location offers:
It works beautifully throughout the year and gives photos a very relaxed, timeless feel. I especially love it during golden hour when the sunlight filters through the trees and grasses.
This location is perfect for seniors wanting relaxed, natural outdoor photos without a heavily 'posed' feel.
